Late. Shri. Dhirubhai Ambani transformed Jamnagar by establishing a refinery on once-barren land that had scarce drinking water. The land’s green cover significantly increased. His visionary efforts to preserve India’s natural heritage laid the foundation for Vantara. This legacy, carried forward by Shri. Mukesh Ambani, inspired Shri. Anant Ambani to create a place dedicated to conserving biodiversity and honouring wildlife.

Mukesh and I are incredibly proud of our son, Anant, for creating the world’s largest rescue and rehabilitation centre in Jamnagar. Vantara is where the wounded find care, the voiceless are heard, and nature flourishes in harmony with humanity.

Their support has enabled the rescue, treatment, and care of over 1.5 million animals, with facilities nurturing over 2,000 species. From building the largest elephant hospital and 22 speciality clinics to launching conservation breeding for 38 endangered species, Reliance Foundation continues to drive our mission forward.

Forced to perform unnatural tricks under threat of punishment, he endured beatings as part of daily life. Bahadur’s transformation has been nothing short of extraordinary. He is now a gentle, curious soul rediscovering what it means to live.
From Fragile to Thriving: Willy the Tortoise’s Journey with Vantara’s Foster Parents
A tiny Sulcata tortoise hatchling, just a few days old, arrived at Vantara, fragile and almost lifeless, rescued from the illegal pet trade. Vantara’s dedicated team of veterinarians sprang into action immediately, crafting a one-of-a-kind neonatal care plan to save him.
Chintu: The Little Otter Who Learned to Swim
Our Otter named Chintu's early life was far from natural, living in captivity and raised in isolation, he was confined to a cramped enclosure with only a shallow water tray. Vantara’s intervention focused on both Chintu’s physical recovery and his emotional healing. Chintu’s progress isn’t just about a recovery it’s about the strength of care, and the understanding that even the most time-consuming beginnings can lead to remarkable transformations, especially when there is a place like Vantara.
Beyond Rescue: How Enrichment Transformed Robin’s Life
Robin was born into captivity, his life dictated by the cruel confines of an inbreeding farm. Instead of roaming vast landscapes as nature intended, he spent his days confined to a small, barren enclosure with no space to move, no stimulation, and no relief from his suffering. At Vantara, he found not just safety, but the life he was always meant to live. Robin’s story is a testament to the power of compassionate conservation, proving that even the most shattered spirits can rediscover the wild within.
Healing Ari: A Tegu’s Path to Recovery
Three months ago, Ari, an Argentine Black and White Tegu, was rescued in dire condition—in pain, weak, starving, and struggling to survive. He had fallen victim to the illegal pet trade, where animals like him are often smuggled and kept in inhumane conditions. Ari’s recovery was slow and delicate, but the team’s dedication never wavered. With meticulous care, they provided constant support, ensuring he received essential nutrition through a feeding tube while closely monitoring his progress. The caretaker’s commitment was crucial in helping him regain strength, heal, and eventually eat on his own.
